These summaries support the full documents above and apply to members, trial participants, private-coaching clients, parents, visitors, coaches, staff and volunteers.
Respectful conduct
- Treat coaches, staff, participants, parents and visitors respectfully.
- Follow reasonable coaching, safety and facility instructions.
- Bullying, discrimination, threats, abuse, sexualised behaviour and deliberate intimidation are not tolerated.
- Do not attend or train while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
Reporting a safeguarding concern
Listen calmly, do not investigate or promise secrecy, record factual information promptly and pass it privately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. BDG may refer concerns to the police, local authority, emergency services or another appropriate organisation.
Junior attendance and collection
- A parent or guardian must complete the required profile, waiver, health and emergency information.
- Juniors may attend only the correct age-appropriate class.
- An authorised responsible adult must bring and collect the child under BDG’s arrangements.
- Tell BDG privately about collection restrictions, medical needs or safeguarding information.
Appropriate coaching boundaries
Physical contact must have a legitimate coaching, safety or first-aid purpose and remain appropriate and proportionate. Communication with junior members should use approved channels and normally involve a parent or guardian.
Hygiene and infection control
- Arrive clean with clipped nails and clean training clothing.
- Wear footwear off the mats and never outdoor footwear on them.
- Cover cuts and report blood immediately.
- Do not train with infectious illness or a suspected contagious skin condition.
- Wash training kit after every use.
Clothing and personal equipment
BDG does not provide or lend personal training equipment. Bring clean, correctly sized equipment for the class. Remove jewellery and do not use damaged or unhygienic equipment.
Training safety
- Tell the coach about relevant injuries, conditions or limitations.
- Train within your ability and match intensity to your partner and the session.
- Respect taps, verbal submissions, stop commands and coaches’ decisions immediately.
- Stop and notify the coach if you feel unwell, become injured or notice unsafe conditions.
Bookings and attendance
- Book and cancel through your own MAAT profile.
- Register by midnight before classes where advance registration is required.
- Daytime and lunchtime classes normally require at least four registrations to run.
- Repeated no-shows, late cancellations or booking misuse may lead to restrictions.
Photography, video and phones
Do not record a coach, participant or child without BDG’s permission and all required consent. Recording is prohibited in toilets and changing areas. Do not publish media that compromises another person’s privacy, dignity or safety.
Facilities and belongings
- Keep exits, fire routes and walkways clear.
- Report hazards, spills or damage promptly.
- Keep food and uncovered drinks outside the training area.
- Personal belongings remain the owner’s responsibility.
- Respect neighbouring businesses and parking arrangements.
Complaints and policy breaches
Raise routine concerns promptly with the coach or BDG admin. Formal complaints should be submitted privately with the relevant facts. Depending on seriousness and risk, BDG may use warnings, restrictions, removal, suspension or termination.
Policy review
BDG may update its policies to reflect legal guidance, safeguarding practice and operational needs. The current documents and website pages published in this policy library are the versions that apply.
